WHAT TYPE OF SERVICES DOES MOVES AND GROOVES OFFER?

In order to carry out our mission statement the entire staff at Moves and Grooves is totally focused on the scholastic and extra curricular growth of every child we service. Our enrichment program consists of various activities that will enhance a child’s self -perception, and self -esteem. Therefore we have incorporated a curriculum that we feel is educational yet enjoyable to children. The chosen activities will definitely provide each child with the self -confidence needed to excel, succeed, and conquer the many obstacles they face currently, and will face in the future.

1. TUTORING - Moves and Grooves tutoring department targets the subject area where each individual child is having difficulty. We effectively tutor and work with the child throughout the school year to bring them at least one or two letter grades higher in that targeted subject.

2. DANCE - In our society the world of hip-hop has become a mainstream culture that can be used positively. Therefore Moves and Grooves team of dance instructors has incorporated dance sessions and classes that combine elements of hip hop, modern, jazz, and multicultural dance treatments that successfully enhance exercise, teamwork, and discipline. All under the premises that dancing is “cool” and socially accepted. By male and female youth.

3. SPEECH AND DRAMATICS - We live in a society where communication is a vital survival tactic. Moves and Grooves has established an impressive speech and dramatics division that dares to enhance each child’s memorization, self-expression, self-control, imagination, and ability to positively command attention and entertain.

4. STRENGTH BUILDING - The world for adults as well as children is full of disappointments and stressful situations. Therefore Moves and Grooves feels that our children need an outlet to properly release anger and frustration. The strength building component of our program is an open forum for the children to express their true feelings about any positive or negative situations they may be dealing with. This group counseling session is overseen by a trained Moves and Grooves staff member whose main goal is to identify the problem and get the children to actively help each other come up with positive solutions.

5. LIFE SKILLS ENHANCEMENT - The life skill classes provided are equipped with everything we feel is necessary to improve a child’s social enrichment. These classes are sometimes combined or split according to gender and age depending on which subject is being addressed. An appropriate atmosphere for effective learning and conversation is always needed. These classes educate on personal hygiene, proper social etiquette, financial literacy, the art of entrepreneurship, how and when to apply for college and financial aid, drug prevention, teenage pregnancy, and gang / violence prevention.

6. FIELD TRIPS - Through the funding of our sponsors the children will have the opportunity to explore new and exciting places each year. The Moves and Grooves youth development division’s main focus is to broaden the horizons and stretch the reality of each individual child. The field trips are meant to educate and stimulate each individual child’s traveling experience and creative thinking.

7. COMMUNITY SERVICE - Giving back to the community and others is a concept that Moves and Grooves entire staff openly advocates. Moves and Grooves members have executed community service activities of all kinds in the past. Future community service engagements are available and waiting to be performed.

8. FAMILY COUNSELING - Moves and Grooves strongly believes in parental involvement. We believe that this program should not only be approved, but also supported by the parent or legal guardian of every child enrolled. Moves and Grooves is meant not only to be a learning facility but an extended family and what a better way to establish that kind of relationship than to be involved with each individual family on a caring but professional one on one setting.
